A través de una carrera profesional que duró 50 años, Miles Davis tocó la trompeta con un estilo lírico, introspectivo y melódico, a menudo empleando una sordina para hacer su sonido más íntimo y personal. Luego de que John Colttrane y Cannonball Adderley dejaran el quinteto de Davis, él entró en la telaraña de buscarles reemplazos adecuados. Fue para Miles un período de ensayo y error aunque no obstante ello, produjo algunos discos legendarios como Sketches of Spain por nombrar uno. Otro de ellos fue Someday My Prince Will Come. La formación es Davis en trompeta, el pianista Wynton Kelly, el bajista Paul Chalmers, y alternándose en la batería Jimmy Cobb y Philly Jo Jones. El saxofonista fue Hank Mobley, aunque en dos tracks regresa John Coltrane. Esta fue una sesión relajada; no hay tracks encendidos acá pero hay mucho de toque preciso y una fina exposición del lirismo expansivo de Miles Davis.
